Hawaiian Honeymoon
Islands hold a particular appeal for honeymooners. Something about the smaller space reflects what you need from the holiday - a little world of your own to focus on each other, to celebrate the big step both of you have just taken and a chance to put all the stress of organising the wedding behind you.
If that island has a beautiful climate, is surrounded by warm waters and golden sands, so much the better! Probably the best thing about Hawaii for honeymoons is the fact that Hawaiian weather is consistent year-round: sunny,
25 - 30°C.
Hawaii is actually made up of many islands in the Pacific Ocean stretching east to west. Between them they offer majestic mountains, thunderous waterfalls, amazing forests and sandy beaches.
Oahu is the most popular of the islands. This is where you will find the capital, Honolulu, and get to see the world famous Waikiki Beach. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, night clubs and late night entertainment venues in this area.
Once you head outside of Honolulu there are plenty of places to visit including the poignant memorial at Pearl Harbour and the North Shore where all the dedicated surfers go to play. It is well worth getting out of the city, particularly if you only have time to visit one island.
If you are spending 10 days or longer, Aloha Holidays recommends visiting two or more islands. For true escapism and romance, island-hop to Kauai. If it's more activities you want, head to Maui where you can try your hand at a huge variety of water and land-based sports. This is also one of the best places during the season (Nov - Apr) to whale watch.
The big attraction on the Big Island of Hawaii is Volcanoes National Park where an active lava flow has been in existence for almost 30 years. It is well worth a visit, even if it is only on a day trip from one of the other islands.
The smaller, less populated islands of Lanai and Molokai have their own charm and are also great day trip destinations.
